Gre(v)en(ts): Global Work Party

The following is taken from 350.org:

350 is the most important number in the world—it’s what scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Three years ago, after leading climatologists observed rapid ice melt in the Arctic and other frightening signs of climate change, they issued a series of studies showing that the planet faced both human and natural disaster if atmospheric concentrations of CO2 remained above 350 parts per million.

We work hard to organize in a new way–evxerywhere at once. In October of 2009 we coordinated 5200 simultaneous rallies and demonstrations in 181 countries, what CNN called the ‘most widespread day of political action in the planet’s history.’ This October we’re organizing a ‘global work party’ all over the world. People will put up solar panels, dig community gardens–and send a strong message to our leaders: ‘If we can get to work on solutions to the climate crisis, so can you.’

Our theory of change is simple: if an international grassroots movement holds our leaders accountable to the latest climate science, we can start the global transformation we so desperately need.

To join in the movement this coming Sunday, find an event happening near you. Hey, even the Obamas are going solar!
