Penguins in Sweaters

A recent oil spill off the coast of New Zealand prompted volunteers to knit wee sweaters “to not only keep [the baby penguins] warm until volunteers can clean them, but to prevent them from preening themselves and consuming the oil stuck in their coats.” There’s been controversy on whether the sweaters are even necessary (and if they only add stress to the animals’ already stressful situation), but regardless, you can still knit one up yourself on a rainy day to donate for (inevitable) future oil spills!
